Pegram is one of three composers selected to attend the 2017 Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music’s Conductors/Composers Workshop in Santa Cruz, California. In addition to working with mentor composer Michael Gandolfi, faculty conductors Cristian Măcelaru, Leonard Slatkin, Thomas Sleeper and their conducting fellows, and with additional participation by Cabrillo composers-in-residence, Pegram will compose a new work for the Cabrillo Festival Orchestra, which includes in its roster members of Eighth Blackbird.
Pegram is a recipient of the 2017 ASCAP Foundation Morton Gould Young Composer Award for CRUSH for Eight Cellos and will attend ASCAP Foundation’s national awards ceremony in New York later this year.
VALENTINES for Soprano and Piano has received the Honorable Mention designation by finalist judge Lori Laitman in the 2017 Art Song Composition Award competition hosted by the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). Of the 10 Finalists scores, 1st and 2nd place winners and one honorable mention were chosen.
